We reproduce here the Mayor’s Appeal to the People:
“Today, we are living through the most serious moment in terms of the spread of Covid-19. This is a moment of great responsibility that must be taken on by each one of us, individually, for the benefit of the country. Let’s urgently understand that more than 9,000 people have already died in Portugal, with an additional 556,000 infected. Our hospitals now have 664 people in intensive care.
We have reached a limit that we cannot ignore and we must, together, take responsibility for the direction of collective life, above all else. As a mayor, I would like to appeal to all citizens to help us and to help and respect themselves.
Stay at home.
Use electronic means of shopping whenever possible, leave your home only in case of extreme need and use the personal protective equipment at your disposal. Let’s all respect the rules you’re asking us to, right now.
Let’s collaborate with our doctors, nurses, firefighters and security forces.”
Comply with the lockdown.
Comply with the physical distancing rules.
Always wear a mask.
Protect yourself and others.
United we will win 2021.
United we will overcome this pandemic.
